What is Philosophy according to Human understanding ?
Some dictums to live by or a list of inputs for a relatable outcome. I wouldn’t wish to essay it like a Sherpa, although detailing matters while vetting between two topics which changes our outlook at life. Learnings in life are crucial part of becoming a better person, understanding is a humble approach which takes time and requires an introspective insight to keep up our mental health.
Hence, a sound definition – Philosophy is the study of fundamental questions about existence, knowledge, values, reason, and reality, often defined as the “love of wisdom” from its Greek roots (philosophia).
Years of research has made it possible to understand simple as well as complex traits of human behaviours via philosophy and psychology. While here, I am making an effort to understand and explain how these differentiating traits can help us understand its impact on our lives and how we can make our decision-making better in the long run.
As per the cognitive apprehension of a human mind, Psychology comprehends more around logical reasoning of the constraints, evaluating productive probabilities, reasoning with the quantitative quandaries. And philosophy on the other hand, has more creative attributes when it comes to solving a problem. A philosophical approach is to emphasise the contrary ground of morality. Although philosophy is bound by morals and psychology is an unbounded construct of human behavioural patterns.

What is Psychology in its simplest form of its understanding?
Psychology is a scientific study of human mind and behaviours in humans and other animals. It investigates mental processes like thoughts, feelings, and conscious/subconscious efforts, as well as outward behaviours, and seeks to understand how factors like brain function, genetics, and environment influence on them.
In simple words, Psychology is scanning and evaluating human behavioural patterns and making a difference to our ability in understanding life at large.
Philosophy is materialised to improve our moral ground while psychology is an analysis of the interplay of our moral ground. Though everything depends on the human behavioural patterns and optimisation of our morals can be seen in our actions and reactions.
How much we’re aware of our distinctive beliefs and practices? And how do we evaluate our mental health?
It’s important for us to be aware of our bespeak ideologies. A junction where our mental health can lay in peace with the tenets that we choose to stand by.
Why do we do – the things we do? How you perceive and react to every situation should matter in your eyes and then only, your reactions and perceptions would differ for better part of your life.
Nobody tells us to react when poked, while reactions takes away maximum time of our lives and we never even notice its impact as the time fly by. Although considering actions and reactions may vary the circumstantial consequences with varied judgments of our mental state and behavioural patterns as yet, making the right decision in regards is of particular concern for our own sanity.
Only Seneca could explain the correlation between philosophy and psychology or its connection is beyond comprehension for a simple human mind like mine.
It’d be a causal ambiguity if I’d call them same or connected. To me, They don’t seem like two sides of the same coin. Philosophy is more empathetic and psychology is more pragmatic in my layman opinion. I’m more resolved with psychological connotations than be fraying with my whims over philosophical precepts.
They say, If life gives you more lemons, then you must learn to make better lemonades. There is always a solution to every problem that you could possibly encounter in life while all you have to do is be resilient and responsible about your actions and reactions.
We must have utmost admiration and respect for people who maintain their mental hygiene. Keeping your mind clear and at bay is soulful, the peace that every human seek is only achieved when your conscious allows you to be morally grounded and mindful. Being sane in the head is easier than be falling for anything that wipes off your vanity, while not everyone can afford to keep up with whimsicalities of the world, and not everyone is privileged to skip the part where they get to dine without a smile on their faces.
It’s heedless to not be aware of your psychological state of mind when you’re dealing with identified emotional discrepancies. While you must also be aware of keeping yourself educated of the profound wisdom that’s been embossed and expressed throughout history because that’s where your educational approach helps you be wiser.
Philosophy is like curating yourself a better moral ground while psychology is more like compartmentalising your emotional dispositions. Philosophy can be more sentimental while psychology is more factual, as even then they still can conceive a lot similar outcomes in comparison while their compassion may vary but their comprehensive approach is still very similar.
Why am I making an effort to understand and relate Philosophy and psychology?
The real reason of my piqued solace is that I like to write about psychological patterns of human behaviours. Noticing people behave differently spikes-up my curious conundrums, My “whys” aren’t judgemental, they are curious for reformative actions. Every human being behaves in a certain pattern and when their pattern changes, their emotions and actions takes on differently too.
On a sick day, a person may not smile, may not be active, will avoid eating and doing homely chores but otherwise on a usual day that very same person may smile at a passerby, may eat more, be active and even cook a meal for himself or the family. So, if a person acts out of its usual pattern then it may raise the brows of people who expect them behave in certain pattern. While the behavioural patterns are a systematic process that’s been followed, observed and studied by people and at times, these people don’t even realise that they have the ability to understand other people and bring about the change they need the most.
A depressed person would nearly avoid every conservation that’s pointed towards him or her, they can barely speak up in a room full of people because they are eccentric about their out of range tendencies to behave differently than others, mainly because of their upset behaviour or a mind so dense that does not allow them to see or think clearly about their emotional state of mind.
Coming back to the real problem at hand, weighing between these two ideologies which might have the similar end results is complex and criterial, it’s difficult to choose emotions over conscience while emotions are the real reason our conscience exists, so caressing our whims should be secondary than be optimising over the behavioural patterns, even though philosophy and psychology are both guides to making a difference in our understanding, we still need our intellectual capacity to develop and understand our emotional consequences to behave upright in any given situation.

Philosophy might help us become a better person, whereas psychology gathers our humble opinions to dissect wrongs from rights and my list of divergence may go on with verbose of similar output, as even then their corresponding correlation might have similar as well as significant impact on our ability to make a difference in our lives.
Knowing when to do right and knowing when to do what’s needed correlates all sorts of outputs because being right all the time mustn’t be important but keeping it justified should be the adhering route for condensing the mistakes we ought to make.
As yet, doing what’s needed takes the steering because being right differs from being righteous. You have to be more righteous than be right, also not be condemned or convicted of a felony that may later stress your filigrees. It does get condescending at times, intimidating our emotional well being and gyrating our world with varied tastes of different outcomes.
Well to conclude, we can take a share of both psychological and philosophical approaches to make better judgments and have better outcomes. We can add them as yin and yang to our palate for up keeping our mental health. Keeping an eye on your behaviour patterns and analysing your moral ground to bring a change is essential for human health and development.
This article is entirely about keeping my mind sane, because mental health matters before it turns into an abuse and how we all can improve and help before the distaste takes over.
